Risen to a New Life

Hi Swamp Bloggers!

I hope you had a good weekend and a happy Easter! At the end of the blog are some very important Swamp announcements, including information regarding our video contest, so make sure to read all the way through.

Sharing in His Resurrection

After thinking about it, I realized there is a lot of connection between the experience of the Swamp and the Resurrection.

Whenever we think about Jesus's Resurrection from the dead, we naturally think about his death on the Cross. We think about it, because we know He had to die in order to be raised, set us free from our sins, and bring us life to the full.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
-John 10:10

I see the result of Jesus's death and Resurrection in the smiles and laughs at the Swamp. We are able to so effortlessly be ourselves there, because we know the freedom and life that Christ provides for us. It is a freedom that Jesus had to acheive for us through his victory in Resurrection. Without it, we wouldn't know the joy of being set free from the power of Satan and sin.

It truly is remarkable what a good illustration the Swamp is of how it feels to be set free from the world and the pull of sin. And, what we experience is not even the full thing! Yet, I think that even the experience of the Swamp would not be possible, disciple or not, without the knowledge of the Resurrection and the victory Jesus achieved, which brought us the ability to share in his powerful Resurrection to eternal life.

Let's remember to rejoice in the power, love, and sacrifice it took to bring us experiences like those at Camp Swamp. It's something that took an incredible sacrifice to bring. And, it is something we are purely blessed to celebrate in!

Video Contest, Work Party, Daddy Daughter, & More:

Here are those announcements as promised:

Third, we will be having two Swamp work days on May 12 and May 19. If you would like to help clean and spruce up camp for the summer, sign up HERE.

Lastly, some friends of the Swamp are working on a campaign to help send counselors on Swamp Corps trips, so that they can go serve kids across the world and bring the Swamp culture with them. Below is a message from David Thomas on the Fill the Swamp Campaign:

"You know how awesome Camp Swamp is for those who attend, but do you know about our amazing counselors who make camp such a special experience? Currently, counselors must fund their own trip to serve each summer. Our friends in the Ole Miss MBA program are raising support to help counselors who may not otherwise be able to take the trip and make Camp Swamp as incredible as it is. Please take a minute to check out their site to learn more about Camp Swamp's mission, counselors, and foreign reach. Camp wouldn't be possible without our amazing counselors, so please consider offering your support through this link to help counselors attend and make memories this year!"
