Have you ever planned a big party or event for someone? If you have, you probably didn't just sit around until the day of hoping it would turn out well. The odds are you probably put a lot of hard work into planning the event. You likely had to find a venue, send out invitations, make food, decorate, and plan some activities for your event. Then, on the day of you probably had some anticipation for the turnout, knowing how much effort you'd put into making the event great.

Similarly, with Summer approaching quickly, we should be preparing our hearts and camp in hopes of having a spiritual and blessed summer.

Preparing Our Hearts

So, obviously we are not going to plan out the food, decorate, or plan activities for the summer, unless you are Mr. Jeff or Ms. Debbie. ;) However, we can pray for the summer and all who will pass through camp. We can pray that God molds their hearts and teaches them about Him. We can pray for ourselves to grow and to be great servants, if we are serving at camp. We can pray for our friends and children and all who will be a part of camp.

Preparing for camp, reminds me of this scripture, which calls for the preparing of Jesus coming into the world:

"A voice cries: 'In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.'"
-Isaiah 40:3 (ESV)

Although we are not expecting Jesus to come back at camp, hopefully, we are expecting God to do incredible things there. In the same way as we would any spiritual venture, let's join together to pray for summer at the Swamp.

Preparing Our Campsite

There is also a great opportunity to help prepare the actual campgrounds of the Swamp. Swamp will be having two work parties on Saturday, May 12 and Saturday, May 19 from 8 am to 5 pm. You can come help get Swamp ready for the Summer by helping clean the facilities and working on the landscape. Registration can be found HERE. You must be at least 14 years-old to participate, and lunch will be provided. Come serve camp at the best kind of party: a WORKING PARTY!! ;)

That's all for this week, Swamp family!

Much Love & Respect,
Julie
