Family Camp

We always start our summer season at Camp Swamp with our preparation week, where we prepare the physical grounds of camp for our campers and arrange for former counselors, youth ministry staff, and a professional counselor to train our summer-long staff. During preparation week, we also host Family Camp, a space for families to experience Camp Swamp together. Our summer-long staff plays with our future campers, reconnects with current campers, and builds relationships with parents and grandparents. Family Camp has been an amazing space for intergenerational connection – young campers, college aged counselors, parents, and grandparents all together.

Three moms who grew up at camp and served as counselors in their college years brought their little ones to Camp Swamp this year, something they dreamed about when they were young.  It was precious watching the crew of young children eating meals together, playing games, and building their own connections. As our families left Saturday morning, they expressed their desire to share Family Camp with more friends and families.

Family Camp is Camp Swamp’s best kept secret. It provides an opportunity for kids to explore camp with the reassurance of a parent present, to meet counselors, to experience our special camp devotionals, and to learn the routines of camp – which can help settle nerves for the camper and/or the parents. Family Camp is available for campers five and above and is a perfect place for friends to start their summers connecting with each other and with their families.

And last but not least, the photo below is a group of our young campers who live in different parts of Georgia and other states and though some didn't know each other prior to family camp, they've become the sweetest of friends.
