Everywhere You Go
(Pictured: 2nd generation campers, whose parents were campers.)
Hi friends!! I’m not sure how we got here so quickly, but it looks like summer is coming to an end already. I hope everyone got to enjoy their summers and make the most out of them, especially now that school is starting back up.
When I think about the back to school season, I think of a lot of things. I think of new opportunities, fresh faces to reach out to, and the promise of a TON of learning. I also think about how drastically different school is from our Little Taste of Heaven.
When we’re out at camp, we’re in a protective little bubble-blissfully disconnected from the sinful tendencies of the world. We get to be in a safe space to learn, grow, and be refreshed. Unfortunately, public school is almost the complete opposite of that. There’s temptation, heart-break, and straight up brokenness everywhere you look.
It’s kind of daunting to think about, right? For me, it puts me in a place where I really have to believe and trust in God’s promises. There’s a passage in Romans that never fails to inspire me and keep me grounded when I feel like the world is a little too big. Romans 8 talks about how our God is for us, and because of that, nobody can be against us. It also talks about how our Savior is right up there with God, and is advocating on our behalf. It’s really hard to be intimidated by the world when you have the literal creator of all that was and will ever be backing you up. The best part is that absolutely nothing can take that away from us.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39)
With that scripture in mind, I want all of us to go back to school or work with confidence. No matter where we go, we are not alone. God is always with us, and he also gave us each other to lean on. We get to live life with other disciples and like-minded people, supporting and sharpening one another as we go.
Speaking of spending time with like-minded people, we have a retreat coming up next month!! The Mother-Daughter retreat starts Friday, September 13th, and ends the following Sunday. If you can, I encourage you to go! Nothing says “refreshing” like a weekend at Camp Swamp and a hug from your mama. I’ll add a link at the end if you’d like to register! :)
That’s all for me this week! I’ll be praying for all of you, whether you’re a new or returning student, a parent, or a teacher with a fresh batch of students. Let’s all remember to keep the Lord at the forefront of our minds, and to take a little piece of camp with us everywhere we go.
