Water Safety & Lifeguards at Camp Swamp

Every summer, lots of our campers enjoy swimming in the pool, and fishing and canoeing at the lake.

As parents and camp directors, physical safety around the pool and the lake is very important to us. We have lifeguards at the pool and lake every time we use those spaces to keep everyone safe near water. We conduct swim tests on Mondays to know our campers’ abilities. We require life vests when on boats in the lake. Campers and teen workers know that unauthorized trips to the pool or lake will result in an automatic trip home.

One of the lifeguards shared her story of stepping up to this responsibility. She began to research the process for lifeguard certification and quickly learned that the process would demand hard work, physical strength, clear thinking, and critical knowledge on how to respond to emergencies around water. It was not a matter of showing up to take a test and receiving a certificate – it was training consistently, studying the material, and practicing the safety responses to demonstrate her competence on required skills. Each of our lifeguards has undergone that same process and takes their responsibility to guard our lives seriously. 

Safety is one of our core values at Camp Swamp and our consistent emphasis on physical safety of our campers around water makes camp “the safest place outside your home.”  We look forward to your campers joining us this summer for swim time, pool games, early morning fishing, and canoe races. Registration is open for Family Camp, all six weeks of camp,  Shining Stars Camp and Adult Camp.

With all of that said, we're excited to introduce you to four lifeguards that will be working to help keep Camp Swamp waters safe this summer 2024!

Register for Family Camp and get the opportunity for you and your family to connect and have fun together while also meeting these wonderful lifeguards before the start of summer camp week 1! Family Camp begins May 29- June 1 with Summer Camp Week 1 starting June 2nd.
