Building Connection and Community through Parent Retreats
Every year we plan four different parent retreats to help parents make memories with their children, away from the distractions of devices and the hectic schedules of daily life. We recognize how important it is to be intentional in our precious moments with our children, no matter their age or developmental stage. Earlier this month we hosted the Father Daughter retreat, with daughters from 7 to 22 years old. Dads and daughters danced, painted, created, played, ate, and laughed together.
They shared hugs and expressed their affection and care for each other.
And then there were the Crazy Carts – what can we say? A picture is worth a thousand words!
After the retreat, we received feedback that the time was so meaningful for their relationship, that they recognized the need to invest in opportunities like this to be together uninterrupted by distraction, and that the daughters felt special and valued by their dads.
We are planning the Mother Son Retreat for March 22-24 and registration is still open! Boys from 7 years and up can participate with their mothers and grandmothers. There will time to play games, drive Crazy Carts, build a project, and share good food together. We hope to see you soon at the Mother Son Retreat or another parent child retreat with Swamp and encourage you to bring a friend or two to share this experience. We all need more spaces where our work as parents can find partnership: spaces that will help our children discover God and surround them in healthy community.
