A Simple Way to Give to the Swamp

Hi Swamp Blog Readers!

Welcome back to the blog. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends. I know this Thanksgiving holiday was a much needed one for me.

From Very Little Comes Much

Now, that we're into the season of giving, I want to introduce something new to the Swamp. It's an app called RoundUp that uses small amounts of change to create great change for the Swamp.

The concept of this app is that you can use something small to create a grand, multiplied effect. This can be seen in the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand. After a long day of healing the sick, Jesus's disciples notice that it is getting late and that the crowd has not had anything to eat. In Matthew 14, verses 15 - 21, the story picks up:

As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
“Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Despite only having five loaves and two fish, Jesus is able to make the amount stretch so that there is more than enough for five thousand men, not counting any women or children. Can you imagine the faces of the disciples as well as the families who were there when they realized how far the food had gone?

What's even more amazing is that the story says Jesus stopped to heal the sick amongst them. These people certainly did not all come to hear Jesus preach. Many had to have come with the sole hope of having their illness or disease cured.

Imagine their awe when this miraculous healer blessed the five loaves and two fish and gave some to each and every person.

The Good your spare change will create at Camp Swamp.

Similarly, imagine our faces when we see the good done with our spare change through RoundUp. Even more, imagine the faces of the children at camp who will benefit from this donation.

How RoundUp Works

So, how does RoundUp work, and how do you get involved?

Every month, RoundUp donates the change from your credit and debit card purchases to Camp Swamp. The way it works is that all your purchases are rounded up to the next dollar, and the spare change is donated. So, if you make a purchase of $29.95, your purchase is rounded up to $30. And, the extra $0.05 goes to the Swamp.

Please consider this simple way to give to the Swamp, and imagine all the amazing change we could make from our own change.

Until Next Week, friends!

Much Love & Respect,
